No matter what you're facing in life, having the right perspective does make a difference. How we perceive things can be extremely powerful.
Perspective:
A particular attitude toward or way of regarding something; a point of view.
Simply put, perspective is a way of thinking. The way you think or feel about something, a particular situation or even the way you perceive somebody is not always true. Have you ever been frustrated because you know someone may think a certain way towards you, a situation or maybe even about your family, beliefs or church? But you know for a fact that what they're perceiving is not true? Everybody has an opinion and perspective on just about everything and a lot of times we let our perspective on things come from other people, our thoughts and you guessed it -our feelings. Our feelings, although they are real, can be misleading and inaccurate to what is really true. (I once heard a message about that and it changed my life.) Sometimes we can't help the way we feel but we can ask God to change the way we look at things if it is not a true way or good way of looking at it.
I know a saying and I'm sure you have heard it also and it goes something like this:
"I felt sorry for a man I met that had no shoes, until I met a man who had no feet."
I wonder what that man without any shoes was thinking? Was he feeling sorry for himself because he had no shoes? Or was he just happy to have feet, even if they didn't have shoes on them? Perspective. The things and situations of life that we go through sure don't look as bad to us when we have the right perspective and the right way of looking at it.
I once met a girl that I automatically assumed the worst about because of what I had heard from another source. I didn't even want to be around this person because of all the horrible things I had heard! I ended up getting to know her and realised everything I had heard from that source was inaccurate. She was a great girl and turned out to be a good friend! If I had listened to what I had heard, an opinion, I would have missed out on a great friendship. That source had the wrong perspective of what this girl was all about and it was completely untrue. Lesson learned: other peoples perspectives can lead you to believe something that is not true and can be harmful when it is untrue. Who are you getting your opinions from? Don't let your own wrong perspective keep you from missing out on great things in life!
I wanted to share my thoughts about this because it has helped me so much and I have learned that how I look at things and having the right perspective can make a huge difference in every area of my live, including my personal happiness. Don't let negative thoughts become a way of life! Ask God to change your thoughts and way of thinking to how He thinks and feels. And when He does it will change your life so much for the better!
Your thoughts are powerful.
Your perspective is powerful.
